REPORTS

The first day of EICC is traditionally a busy day as two rounds are played for both men and women.

The women's second round showed a number of hard fought matches but only one upset. Spain's Marta Dominguez (PSA 74) beat higher ranked Cindy Merlo (SUI, 45) 11/9 in the 5th game to secure a place in the quarter finals. German hopes are still alive with Saskia Beinhard facing titleholder Nele Gilis tomorrow.

Whilst the men's top seeds eased through to the last eight, there were a few hard fought matches and surprising results. German Valentin Rapp had the better end against Czech Daniel Mekbib and joins compatriot Raphael Kandra in the quarterfinals.

Ivan Perez from Spain battled for 70 minutes to beat 5/8 seed Auguste Dussourd.

Nicolas Mueller and Nele Gilis are top-seeds

of the next month’s ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships 2022 after the seeding of the main draw for the ESF EICC was released today (July 27).

48 Selected players from 15 different European nations will compete for the prestige title of ESF European Squash Champion 2022. Amongst these competitors we welcome players from Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Squash Federation has confirmed that it will be sending players to this year’s ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships in Germany, after the European Squash Federation and their European National Member Federations, inclusive some individuals have generously contributed to the ‘ESF solidarity and support donation programme’ for six athletes to attend the championships.

The ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships 2022 will take place between August 17-20 at Sportwerk in Hamburg. The Center is Germany’s biggest with 15 squash courts including a full glass show court offers space for over 300 spectators.

The whole tournament will be shown live from Center Court and with Livescore of all courts on the ESF website (europeansquash.com) and the event website (europeans2022.com).
