England’s ElShorbagy and Kennedy to lead the charge at
the 2023 European Team Championships
Featuring two exciting debutants, England Squash has announced the squad
that will head to Helsinki for the 2023 European Team Championships
between 26-29 April.
Emerging talent Lucy Beecroft and Nick Wall are joining the squad
alongside World No.3 Mohamed ElShorbagy, who will be making his first
European Team appearance.
Riding the wave of last year’s men’s and women’s double gold triumph in
Eindhoven, the team will be looking to capture the prestigious titles
for the 43rd and 42nd time, respectively.

Mohamed ElShorbagy
World No.10 Georgina Kennedy is heading up the women’s side and will be
joined by world No.22 Jasmine Hutton, and world No.33 Lucy Turmel. 2022
World Games runner-up Lucy Beecroft will be stepping up to make her
England senior debut in Sarah-Jane Perry's absence.
Meanwhile, England’s men will feature England No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy,
world No.20 Patrick Rooney, 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medallist
Adrian Waller, world No.36 George Parker, and emerging talent Nick Wall,
who has made a huge leap in the rankings this season to move inside the
world’s top 50.

Georgina Kennedy
Kennedy said: “I’m so happy to be representing England again. I was
gutted to miss out on the Women’s World Teams in December due to injury
so being part of the Europeans means a lot to me. I can’t wait to be
back with the team and hopefully bring home another trophy.”
England No.1 ElShorbagy said: “I’m really looking forward to
representing England at the Europeans. England has a really good track
record at team events and I’m honoured to be a part of that. My
teammates have been really supportive since I joined England Squash and
I’m so proud to be playing alongside them in Helsinki.”
Commenting on the squad, National Coach David Campion said: “We’ve got a
fantastic squad of some of the younger players this year. It feels
strange to be announcing a team without England legend James Willstrop,
but he’s certainly paved the way for the younger generation. Delighted
to welcome debutants Nick Wall and Lucy Beecroft to the team and what a
privilege for everyone to be playing alongside Mohamed, who is excited
to play and who I know will thrive in this team environment.”
