Becoming
the Wolf: The Story of Nick Matthew debuts in Manchester
A
film charting the success of three-time world squash champion Nick
Matthew debuted in Manchester last night.
England Squash, the national governing body held an exclusive screening
of its film Becoming the Wolf: The Story of Nick Matthew to a private
audience at AJ Bell’s offices in Salford.
Commenting on the film, BBC Five Live’s James Gregg said, “An inspiring
and insightful film illustrating how far one person will go to be the
best. Nick’s determination and perseverance to succeed no matter what
left me awestruck.”
The film, released ahead of the forthcoming AJ Bell PSA World
Championships in December, chronicles Nick Matthew’s journey from
grassroots to greatness, and is a powerful story of the determination,
self-belief and skill needed to become a sporting legend.
Featuring talking heads, archive footage and vintage photos, Nick
reflects on his remarkable twenty-year career, including the triumphs
and challenges along the way and the defining moments that led to him
becoming the greatest English squash player of all time.
The 40-minute film, which was made by brand agency Dair, has received
praise from across sport. GB Triathlete Harry Wilshire said, “An
absolute masterclass on how to become the best in the world at what you
do. What fascinated me was the adjustments he made to his game
technically and mentally in order to become the world-class athlete he
is today.”

for his fourth and final world title at the AJ Bell PSA World
Championships from 7-18 December in Manchester. Tickets are available to
