Panel selects US Open as Tournament of
Year
There were plenty of nominations for the Canary Wharf Classic, which
returned as a PSA Tour Gold event to the delight of its tightly packed
crowd in East London, as well as the Oracle NetSuite Open, won by home
favourite Amanda Sobhy, beside San Francisco’s four-and-a-half-mile
Oakland Bridge. However, they were pipped by the US Open in its
magnificent new Arlen Spector Centre venue in Philadelphia. The
conversion of a huge, disused shell into the 20-court new US Squash HQ
and community hub was a magnificent achievement.
James Zug: “To see the world's newest, largest and
most spectacular community squash centre host a Grand Slam event during
a pandemic was amazing.”
