SUSIE SIMCOCK

Susie Simcock (New Zealand) was elected as the first woman President of the World Squash Federation in October 1996, in succession to Prince Imran under whom she had served as Vice-President for the previous seven years.

Susie is a qualified physiotherapist, resident in Auckland, New Zealand, where she manages her husband’s practice as a Consultant Neurologist. She represented New Zealand Universities in Athletics and Hockey and reached a New Zealand ranking of number 8 at Squash.

Susie started working in Squash at club level and graduated to management of the New Zealand women’s team before becoming Vice-President of the WSF in 1989. She is currently an Executive Member of the New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games Committee, a Governor of the New Zealand Sports Foundation and is the first woman ever to be elected as a member of the Council of the General Assembly of International Sports Federations (GAISF). In 1995 she was one of five persons appointed by the Prime Minister to be responsible for developing strategies for the long-term success of high performance sport in New Zealand.
