Gohar Stays Top in Women’s August Rankings

Egypt’s Nouran Gohar has stayed at World No.1 for a fifth successive month after the PSA Women’s World Rankings for August were released today.

Gohar leads an unchanged top 20, with Nour El Sherbini (No.2), Hania El Hammamy (No.3), Amanda Sobhy (No.4) and Joelle King completing the top five.

England’s Sarah-Jane Perry stays at No.6 ahead of Rowan Elaraby (No.7), Georgina Kennedy (No.8), Salma Hany (No.9) and Olivia Fiechter (No.10).

Nour El Tayeb retains her ranking of No.11 and sits ahead of Nele Gilis (No.12), Tinne Gilis (No.13), Nada Abbas (No.14) and Farida Mohamed (No.15).

The rest of the top 20 contains Sivasangari Subramaniam (No.16), Joshna Chinappa (No.17), Tesni Evans (No.18), Emily Whitlock (No.19) and Hollie Naughton (No.20).

South Korea’s Mingyeong Heo is the biggest mover on the women’s tour, rising 169 spots to No.250 in the world after reaching the final of the City of Greater Bendigo International in July. The 26-year-old also reached the quarter-finals of the City of Greater Shepparton International and the last 16 of the Victoria Open.

Hong Kong’s Lam Po Ying was the second biggest mover on the women’s tour, rising 134 places to No.248 after reaching the last four of the Bendigo International.
